⁴⁸ Nathanael asked him, “How do you know me?” Jesus answered him, “Before Philip summoned you, when you were under the fig tree,^[a] I saw you.” ⁴⁹ Nathanael said to him, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God. You are the King of Israel.” ⁵⁰ Jesus responded, “Do you believe because I told you that I saw you under the fig tree? You will see greater things than that.”
